FIFA 14 players who don’t have real faces

For all those times you comment on FIFA 14 when you say, “how does such and such not have his own face on FIFA?”, well, now is your chance to really make your opinions heard.

What I am talking about is when you pick a team but not all the players have their real faces. Therefore, if I score with a certain player and it actually isn’t him (because it doesn’t look like him) then in the replay footage available in FIFA 14, it doesn’t seem as brilliant as it could be. This is because I can’t make that gaming connection with the player who just scored and it doesn’t feel like I am really in the game.

As an avid gamer of FIFA 14, I love how you can celebrate. But it just isn’t as fun celebrating with a player who doesn’t have his own face because I can’t recognise him and make that virtual connection with him.

Surely when EA Sports have generated over £6billion US dollars from this game since it’s creation in 1993 that all players in the top flight would have their real face?

But just to fill you in on some details on the selection process about which players have their faces on FIFA 14 and which players don’t, FIFA ensured that all the players from the top clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Man Utd, Chelsea, Juventus, PSG (the list goes on) would have their faces scanned. This ensures the gaming experience of FIFA 14 would be greatly enhanced and unforgettable.

In terms of scanning, ‘The Capture Lab’ does most of the facial captures and the firm revealed they use 18 cameras to generate the high resolution imagery. Once a player’s face is captured then they are generally able to continuously use this every year unless someone decides to get a plastic surgery! To catch the full report visit:

Obviously this is a well thought process to capture the top players’ faces but what about the so called ‘lower league clubs’? There is undoubtedly some negligent aspects to FIFA’s decision yet probably the correct one to the neutral football advocate.

I have gone through FIFA 14 to pick out a selection of players that are high profile enough to warrant their real face on the game. These  are the ‘forgotten footballers’ (okay it might not be that original but I couldn’t think of anything else!)

Choose a player whose real face you want FIFA to integrate! (Note all pictures can be enlarged to see the true face features)

Adam Lallana

Having broken into the England team and dazzled the Premier League, Adam Lallana’s next objective is to have his own face on FIFA 14!

Raheem Sterling

Trickery, agility, pacey and even razzley dazzley is what you would come to expect from Raheem Sterling, but when it comes to FIFA 14, his face is something you least expect..

Whether FIFA 14 have computer generated Gervinho’s face is uncertain but this effort is somewhat tame by FIFA’s workforce. His notoriously, ravishing hair is certainly not depicted well! Poor effort FIFA!

Romelu Lukaku

This goes the same for Romelu Lukaku..Poor man, he’s already been on twitter complaining that his speed attribute on FIFA 14 is too slow, and now this…

Lee Cattermole

For a man who has been sent off more times than he has scored, it is vitally important to show Lee Cattermole’s face when he is walking down the tunnel having again been sent off on FIFA 14!

Jonjo Shelvey

Jonjo Shelvey, Lord Voldemort, Dr Evil, whoever he is, he has to have a real face. Besides, his customary celebration alone deserves recognition on FIFA 14…

Howard Webb?

Finally, who is Hayden Pennyfeather and Scott McBeanie? The terrible list of FIFA 14 referee names can go on but where is Howard Webb on this game? Come on FIFA!

So here it is!! There are a number of players that a lot of people would like to use. But i have to admit, it’s not as fun as knowing you are using the real player!

Which player do you want FIFA to integrate!??

Which hair should go ?

Over the years we’ve seen some fantastic footballers, witnessed some majestic goals and even experienced some hilarious scuffles, which have mainly been initiated by Mr Barton. These amazing events only encourages us to relive these moments on FIFA 14! However, there is one thing which really hinders our entertainment…….hairstyles.

Let me clarify. The concept of hairstyles on footballers in FIFA 14 is almost like a blue Ferrari. Although a blue Ferrari has nothing wrong with it and still is very efficient, it’s not as cool and as stereotypical as compared to a red Ferrari. The point I am making is that if I select Barcelona, do I want to bomb down the wing with Neymar and his dazzling blonde mohawk or do I want to have a more realistic approach? Now people may regard this as flimsy, but for the amount I paid for FIFA and the existence of lightning quick updates, this shouldn’t realistically be an obstacle for EA Sports and so it’s good to throw up a debate. Even Victor Valdes agrees saying, “When I met Neymar I was accustomed to seeing him with his mohawk, he always had peculiar hair, he was radical and I really liked it.” He added, “When he arrived here he was a bit more normal, he had Will Smith hair… and I told him, ‘Listen Ney, I really prefer your Santos look, the mohawk – you were scary. You’re scarier that way’.

I’ll go through some other FIFA hairstyles which deserve a mention:

Several weeks after Huddlestone cut his afro for charity, his afro miraculously lives on in FIFA 14!

Torres is a man with many hairstyles but i would like to see him with his current buzz hair cut now. Those wonderful locks have long been gone..

It’s a huge shame that Kevin Prince-Boateng’s hair is now limited to a standard buzz cut. FIFA really need to update his famous eecentric mohawk!

I thought everybody should be introduced to Aristide Bance especially if he is going to go unnoticed playing for Fortuna Dusseldorf of the second division in Germany.

One hairstyle that FIFA has got right is a man who certainly doesn’t need an introduction! It is of course the Egyptian maestro!

Paul Pogba Blonde Mohawk Tribute

In the recent time that Paul Pogba decided to go for a unique brand of hair, and shown with a huge blonde mohawk in FIFA 14, I thought it’d be highly relevant to revisit some of our best footballers who also fit into this category.

Louis Saha, the former French striker, who graced the pitch for the likes of Manchester United, Fulham and Everton, shows us how not to fashion hair in general.

After it was revealed that Mario Balotelli intended to change his bad boy image, we certainly didn’t know he had this in mind!

Having heard his fellow professionals had gone for a unique brand of hair, Sergio Ramos didn’t want to be left out…

Just wow..

Don’t forget Alexandre Song, who agreed to his wife’s demands that dreadlocks wasn’t his best look and that he needed to freshen up…

Neymar thought he’d follow suit…

Dani Alves promised his fans that if Barcelona beat Milan he would go blonde..and true to his word he did..

And to finish off, who could forget Rigobert Song. He represented Liverpool & West Ham in the nineties and although he looks about 100, he’s at a very youthful age of 37.
